As a sideline, but with great commitment, the brothers Alois, Erich and Johann Schmidt cultivate 4 hectares of vineyards in Podersdorf am See (wine growing area Neusiedler See). When taking over the business in 1982, the aim was to continue the quality awareness of their parents.
In addition to the region's typical white wine varieties, such as Welschriesling, Sämling 88 and Muskat Ottonel, the focus has shifted in recent years to red wine and special quality wines.
In the red wine sector, the varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Merlot, St. Laurent and Cabernet Sauvignon are being developed. The Cuveé "Gustav", which was created a few years ago, represents a distinct top wine.
But also the sweet wine sector is no longer new territory for the Unigena winery. This is proven by the awards won in the last few years.
