Two young people from Podersdorf cause a sensation at the world's biggest wine award.

At the AWC 2023, two young winemakers from Podersdorf out of 11,376 wines made it to the final.

The winners were chosen on the national holiday as part of a festive ceremony at Vienna City Hall attended by 3,000 invited guests.

The finalists were the DOMBI-WEISS winery with a St. Laurent Reserve 2020 and the JOST- Johannes Erich Franz Strudler winery with a Rotburger DAC Reserve 2020. At 7 p.m., the tension rose and each category was called individually. The winery with Michael Dombi took second place in the St. Laurent category. The JOST winery with Johannes E. F. Strudler came first in the Zweigelt category with its Rotburger DAC Reserve 2020.

The AWC Vienna is the global market leader in quality evaluation for wine - 11,376 wines from 1,514 producers from 42 countries on all continents took part in the international comparison!

The uninfluenced blind tasting system in conjunction with the strict tasting guidelines make AWC Vienna the most demanding wine tasting among the most renowned international wine competitions.

This means that there is no major award and the winner can also unofficially call himself world champion.
