Rest and relaxation on the largest lake in Austria

Quietly lies the lake. Podersdorf winter stories

From the quietest season on the largest lake in Austria.

No shorts. No beach parties. But endless time for walks in a landscape that is suddenly so different from the hot months. The Podersdorf winter is quiet. Restful. And full of little surprises. And yes, you will need a real thick sweater. Because now the wind is really fresh.

The winter at Lake Neusiedl can be very cold with temperatures below -15°C. In addition, there is then a persistent, often icy wind. But fortunately you can warm up again in the many inns and restaurants. After all, food is eaten all year round. When it gets really crisp, the lake quickly freezes over and the ice skaters arrive. And what are they? A few incorrigible beach boys unpack their sails again and whiz as ice sailors and ice surfers over the largest ice surface in Central Europe.

Advent time at the lake

Every weekend in Advent, numerous Christmas markets around Lake Neusiedl attract visitors with roasted almonds, chestnuts and punch. And get big and small visitors in the mood for Christmas.

EXPERIENCE WINTER IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WAY.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the mountain regions, Lake Neusiedl offers its visitors peace and relaxation in winter. But also the sportsmen do not come too briefly. Well, with skiing it could be difficult. But those who are into Nordic walking will find what they need most here: really a lot of space.

And when the snow does come, the many hiking trails along the vineyards or around the lake are ideal for cross-country skiing. And while walking, impressive views and romantic insights await. Surprising observations of nature and lots of relaxation. Everything you could wish for in a winter.
