And quite a bit of enduranceSince 1988, the Austria Triathlon has been as much a part of Podersdorf as the wind is to the lake. What once began with a small group of triathletes is now one of Austria’s most time-honored triathlon events.Swimming, cycling, and running take place throughout the Seewinkel region—on courses that look quite manageable at first glance. After all, the terrain here is flat. But anyone familiar with Podersdorf knows that the wind likes to throw a wrench in the works. And by the time you reach that section of the running course—which isn’t called “Hell” by accident—it becomes clear why the Austria Triathlon has had its own unique character for decades.From youth athletes to beginners to experienced long-distance athletes, there are a variety of races to choose from. This means the triathlon weekend is by no means just an event for professionals. Spectators can also experience the race up close along the courses and in the finish area.Those who compete are fighting for seconds, personal bests, or simply to finish. On our guided bike tour, you’ll rediscover familiar places, learn fascinating facts about the unique natural and cultural landscape, and experience the diversity of this special region in a sustainable way.For adults, the approximately 50-kilometer e-bike tour runs from Podersdorf through Illmitz and St. Andrä am Zicksee and back to Podersdorf. An experienced national park ranger will accompany you along the route, providing fascinating insights into the flora and fauna as well as the unique features of this cross-border natural area.For families and young cyclists, there is also a separate, approximately five-kilometer-long children’s bike tour from Podersdorf toward Hölle. In a playful and age-appropriate way, the children explore nature and experience the national park in an exciting way.
